PRODUCT INFORMATION
Beautiful yellow star plant, Ornithogalum 'Dubium Yellow', also called Star of Bethlehem or Sun Star is a flowering bulb plant native to South Africa and grows best in warm regions. However, she can be grown outdoors year-round in USDA hardiness zones 8 - 10. In areas outside of the Southeast, this lovely is grown as a bulb plant or potted houseplant. She rewards you with stunning clusters of bright sunny yellow flowers that add cheer and happiness to any garden. These beauties belong to the Asparagaceae family and are easy to grow! The key is to keep the bulb moist but not waterlogged. In the spring, they put up taller stems that produce dazzling yellow flowers that bloom over the course of one to three months. One bulb produces up to 30 flowers! These cheerful beauties are perennials and grow back year after year.

Plant 1 (one) bulb per 4" pot or 3 (three) bulbs per 6" pot, and grow at 72-74 degree days/65-68 degrees at night. Ornithogalum 'Dubium Yellow' needs full sun to bring out the brilliant yellow colors of her flowers. She will perform best when planted in sandy well-draining soil with regular watering. However, they dislike 'wet feet' and may rot if they become waterlogged.

Store bulbs in a cool dry spot with good air circulation and low humidity. Most bulbs can tolerate temperatures between 38 and 70 F. You will want to protect them from heat, frost and strong sunlight. Ideally, you should plant your bulbs right away for best results. Healthy bulbs should be firm to the touch.

Deadhead individual flowers as they fade. Once all the flowers have passed, remove the entire flowering spike from the main body of the plant. This may seem drastic, but the plant can handle it. However, don't cut back the foliage, continue to water it, and let it die back on its own. This gives the plant the chance to store up energy in its bulb for the next growing season.

Note: All parts of this plant are toxic if ingested. Please take care when growing these plants around young children or pets.

We package our bulbs carefully and ship them quickly from our greenhouse to you. They arrive safely, ready to plant and thrive in your garden! Detailed planting instructions are included with each purchase.
