PRODUCT INFORMATION

Gorgeous Bearded Iris, is jaw-dropping beautiful but tough!   'Better Together' is extremely drought tolerant and perfect for warm dry climates.  With elegant blooms that are soft lavender and velvety black, this Iris needs plenty of sun to bloom nice and big. She won't disappoint you!  This perennial is deer, rabbit and squirrel resistant.  She does not require a cold-frame to bloom.  She is a good friend to butterflies and pollinators.

She will perform best in well draining soil.  Avoid mulching and overwatering, and plan on dividing every 3-5 years to prevent overcrowding her.

We package our rhizomes carefully and ship them quickly from our greenhouse to you. They arrive safely, ready to plant and thrive in your garden!  Detailed planting instructions are included with each purchase.

Ruby Acorn is happy to offer size #1 Iris Germanica 'Better Together' rhizomes.  A rhizome is not a bulb; it's a fleshy root like structure.

How To Plant Irises
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tip: It’s easy to make the mistake of planting irises too deeply. The rhizomes of these plants should be partially exposed to the elements, or thinly covered with soil in hot climates. If they’re buried too deeply, they won’t do well.
For bare-root irises, plant the rhizome horizontally with the top exposed. In climates with hot summers, plant the rhizome just below the soil surface.
Plant rhizomes singly or in groups of three, 1 to 2 feet apart, depending on the size.
Dig a shallow hole 10 inches in diameter and 4 inches deep. Make a ridge of soil down the middle and place the rhizome on the ridge, spreading roots down both sides.
Fill the hole with soil and firm it GENTLY, leaving part of the rhizome and the foliage uncovered.
Do not mulch around the rhizome as this practice may encourage rot.
Water thoroughly.
