Oxalis 'Iron Cross' Good Luck Shamrock Flower Bulbs

Oxalis 'Iron Cross' or 'Goodluck Shamrock' has gorgeous green and purple clover-like leaves.  She will produce lovely red flowers approximately 10 - 12 weeks after planting.  If you provide Oxalis 'Iron Cross' with the proper care and growing conditions, she will reward you with robust growth and eye-popping color.  

Oxalis 'Iron Cross' does best in rich, well-drained soil, plenty of sunshine and partial shade.  If you are in hardiness zones 8 - 10, you can enjoy your Goodluck Shamrock outside; they are a great choice for beds/borders. Although she seems to grow quite robust in a bright location indoors, the window reduces some of the sun’s rays which can burn the lovely leaves. Use a lightweight potting mix that drains well.  

During the growing seasons of spring through summer, water when the top inch of soil feels dry.

During the dormant season of fall and winter, water about every two to three weeks.

Store bulbs in a cool dry spot with good air circulation and low humidity.  Most bulbs can tolerate temperatures between 38 and 70 F.  You will want to protect them from heat, frost and strong sunlight.  Ideally, you should plant your bulbs right away for best results.  Healthy bulbs should be firm to the touch.

Bulbs hate "wet feet."  Avoid planting bulbs in areas with poor drainage or standing water.  Planting when the soil temperature is too warm is the primary cause of stunted blooms.  

Avoid planting too shallow.  Plant your Oxalis bulbs 1 - 1.5 inches deep.
